This stem goblet, "festegave," represents an old norwegian engagement gift tradition. "When a young man took to liking a girl he sent her a gift. If she kept the gift for a whole week he could visit her and convey his feelings. But if she returned it before the week had passed; he could only be heart broken."The goblet is made of elm, with a Double Barley twisted stem, and a fourstart twisted finial on the lid.
